The right to the denomination of Origin of our wine was recognised in 1933, with the enactment in Spain of the Estatuto del Vino (wine statute). In 1945 the Consejo Regulador (regulating board) is created and in 1947 its first regulations are approved.
The modifications carried out in 1959 (incorporates “Vinos de Mesa Tarragona Camp”) and the successive changes in 1975, 1986, 1996 and most recently 2005, have adapted, bit by bit, the extensive range of wines that are covered, always respecting the identity and the origin.
The current Regulations (Order ARP/276/2005 from 4th June 2005, Publisher in the ‘Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya’ num. 4410), updates the production area, that spreads through 73 municipal areas placed preferably in the regions Tarragonés, Baix camp, Alt camp and part of Ribera d’Ebre.
